Shell Cove Family Health Recruitment

Thinking of stepping out of general practice?

Think again, Shell Cove Family Health is looking for a senior GP to step up to fill one of our Consultant GP positions. We are looking for an experienced GP to work 4 to 6 sessions each week from early 2012.

Your experience will sit comfortably alongside an energetic team that includes an exercise physiologist, dietitian, speech pathologist and clinical psychologist as well as other GPs, nurses and medical students.

As a Consultant GP you will:

- Enjoy the satisfaction of sharing your experience at case conferences and enjoy longer appointment times,

- Enjoy freedom from practice management,

- Enjoy a staged transition to retirement in a modern and supportive practice.

Theme

The theme for Shell Cove Family Health is “Belonging” – a theme that is as relevant to staff as it is to our future community of patients. The theme reflects the need for clinicians to be involved in a supportive team environment; it reflects the attachment of the local residents to their community; it reflects the attachment that the Wodi Wodi people have had with the area for many thousands of years.

Team based care

Driving that theme is a team based approach to patient care. While each patient will have their own GP they will also know what other team members will be involved in their care if the patient need is for broader clinical care. Each team will include a part time Exercise Physiologist, Clinical Psychologist, Mental Health Nurse and Dietician. Two teams will have a GP Registrar and a medical student.

Each team will meet twice weekly for Case Conferencing and once every two months to discuss clinical and administrative resourcing and flow. Each discipline will meet in an intradisciplinary meeting quarterly for peer support purposes.

Medical students will play a vital team support role in case presentations at case conferences where they will be supervised by the team nurse. This important dyad will also resource the clinics where patients with specific chronic diseases will be reviewed to ensure they are receiving holistic care as defined by current literature.

The patient’s GP will always be responsible for patient treatment decisions but will be supported by the team when required.
