| Take part in Australia's largest lung function screening |
|
General Practitioners (GPs) are being urged to assess the lung health of their patients as part of the largest screening of lung function to be undertaken in Australia. The Lung Census – a joint initiative of The Australian Lung Foundation, the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, the Improvement Foundation, and MediMark International – will be conducted from 4 -15 October 2010 to support and promote Global Test Your Lungs Day (14 October) and the Year of the Lung. For more information click here. Do you lack time to conduct lung function tests? If so, you may like to refer your patients to the Shellharbour or Kiama respiratory service! The service is free and available to anyone at risk of COPD or who has been newly diagnosed with COPD. Spirometry is conducted onsite with results interpreted by a staff specialist and sent back to the referring GP. At the same appointment, a care coordinator is onsite to assess the patient and can provide smoking cessation counseling for those who desire. The service operates monthly from Kiama and Shellharbour public hospitals. To refer, please phone 1300 792 755 - no forms required!
