headspace Shoalhaven is an exciting development for the region, bringing young people and their families a youth-friendly service proactive in the prevention, identification and treatment of mental health and substance use problems.

Positions available:

GP headspace Shoalhaven
We are looking for GPs with an interest in caring for young people and who would enjoy the support of an expert team environment. We are looking for GPs who are willing to learn new skills and share their knowledge with our headspace team, and who would see their work at headspace as a general practice specialty. 

Others in the multidisciplinary team include Psychologists, Mental Health Nurse, Youth Workers, Dietitians, Vocational support & Drug and alcohol counsellors. GPs will be employed by Illawarra Shoalhaven Medicare Local on a sessional basis one or two sessions per week.

Mental Health Nurse
Opening in early 2012 in Nowra, this is an exciting development for the region, bringing young people and their families a youth-friendly community-based health service staffed by a multidisciplinary team. Applicants must be accredited or approaching accreditation under the Mental Health Nurse Incentive Program. The position holder will be required to provide clinical nursing services for young people (aged 12 to 25) with enduring mental disorders and to work closely with GPs and allied health staff to facilitate the provision of coordinated clinical care and treatment for young people, in keeping with the Australian Government Mental Health Nurse Incentive Program (MHNIP) guidelines. Clinical Lead
We are seeking an experienced mental health clinician with the ability to lead and develop the mental health team, implement and monitor quality clinical systems and liaise with external health service providers.
