The IDGP is seeking expressions of interest from Mental Health Nurses interested in joining our dynamic, supportive and flexible team, supporting GPs in the management of patients with severe mental illnesses.
You will have current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board and be credentialed with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses as well as:
- A wide-ranging knowledge of mental illness and skills in evidence-based practice in the management of people with severe mental illnesses
- Commitment to the principles of continuous quality improvement and evidence-based practice in nursing
- Understanding of the principles and issues relevant to coordinated, multidisciplinary team approaches in the provision of mental health services
- Demonstrated ability to comply with protocols in relation to staff and patient safety, maintaining patient records and following clear lines in relation to clinical accountability
- Ability to keep abreast of, evaluate and apply current knowledge and trends in the management and care of those with a mental illness and their carers
- The ability to work autonomously and in a team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain Collaborative Relationships within and outside the organization
