Practice Incentives Program (PIP)

The Practice Incentives Program (PIP) aims to recognise and reward general practices that provide comprehensive quality care, and aim to compensate for the limitations of fee-for-service arrangements.

PIP payments are mainly dependent on practice size and type of patients seen, rather than on the number of consultations performed.

PIP incentives are currently available for the following:

  • Diabetes management – Diabetes Annual Cycle of Care
  • Asthma management – Asthma Cycle of Care
  • Cervical Screening
  • Immunisation – GPII
  • After hours care
  • IM/IT
  • Teaching of medical students
  • Employing a Practice Nurse or Allied Health
  • Indigenous Health Incentives (IHI)
