ISML supports General Practices to fulfill their HR obligations and provide adequate support to their staff members. 

The ISML Primary Care Support Team provides assistance to general practices in the area of staff induction and training, implementing WH&S legislation, developing job descriptions and on Industrial Relations matters.

4th Edition Accreditation Standards-Human Resources Systems

Practices undergoing Accreditation under the RACGP 4th Edition Standards must show that they have Human Resources Systems integrated into their General Practice. Under the 4th Edition Accreditation Standards Practices are expected to have:

  • An induction program for new staff members
  • All staff members able to describe their role within their practice
  • Practice Staff able to identify people/person leading clinical improvement
  • Practice staff able to identify, who coordinates the seeking of feedback and the investigation of resolution of complaints

How the ISML Primary Care Support Team can assist you

The ISML Primary Care Support team provides support for practices in the process of developing and maintaining their Human Resource System. Specifically the Primary Care Support Team are in a position to assist General Practices to ulfill their Human Resources obligations by:

  • Maintaining a list of Administration Staff looking for work, which can be forwarded to General Practice Staff on demand
  • Maintaining a Practice vaccancies page on the ISML recruitment website
  • Maintaining relevant job descriptions for Practice Staff, Practice Nurses and General Practitioners looking for work.  
  • Providing Orientation and Induction Guidelines to assist the integration and training of new employees. The Practice Support Team are able to deliver orientation training sessions to new Practice Nurses entering General Practice
  • The ISML maintains a list of GP Locums
  • The ISML has Occupational Health and Safety resources, which can be forwarded to General Practices
  • The Primary Care Support Team can answer your Human Resources questions through phone or email
