Who we are
The Illawarra-Shoalhaven Medicare Local is a not-for-profit organisation which offers a diverse range of primary health care services, through service brokerage and direct delivery and purchasing to improve the health outcomes of our community.
The role of the Illawarra-Shoalhaven Medicare Local is to lead and support the primary health care sector to achieve significant improvements in the health and wellbeing of our population. Our role is to collaborate with existing providers to ensure integrated service delivery and to enhance and develop service delivery where gaps are identified.
Our team consists of a diverse range of service, project and clinical staff. These staff are located across the following Illawarra-Shoalhaven Medicare Local sites:
- Wollongong Office, Keira Street
- Bomaderry Office, Meroo Road
- headspace Illawarra, Smith Street, Wollongong
- headspace Shoalhaven, North Street, Nowra
- Shell Cove Family Health, Shallows Drive, Shell Cove

Illawarra-Shoalhaven Medicare Local employees are currently able to salary package up to $16,050 per fringe benefits tax year. Salary packaging is available to full time, part time and casual employees.
